Senior Pastor Russ Isler

Senior Pastor Russ Isler

Senior Pastor Russ Isler comes to us from Niagara Falls, N.Y. He moved to Maryland in February of 1998 with his wife Linda and thier two children - Sean and Korina. In New York, Pastor Isler served as an interim Pastor and elder at Grace Calvery Church in Niagara Falls, N.Y. He also served as the Senior Chaplain at the Niagara County Jail.
Since coming to Maryland, Pastor Isler has continued his prison ministry by serving as a District Leader and Senior Chaplain at the Montgomery County Detention Center in Rockville, Maryland - a position that he currently holds. Pastor Isler joined Montgomery Baptist Church in 1998 and, shortly thereafter, filled the assistant pastor position vacated by Leon Green, one of the co-founders of the church. Part of Pastor Islers' duties as Assistant Pastor included overseeing the Youth Ministries and running a monthly Care group. However, Pastor Islers' responsibilities increased considerably when he took on the position as interim lead pastor when the former senior pastor, Bernard Hamilton, was called upon to embark on a year-long sabattical to further acsertain God's purpose for him. Serving in this capacity prepared Pastor Isler for the eventuality of becoming Montgomery Baptist Churchs' senior pastor when Pastor Hamilton determined that his ministry would continue in the Dallas area. As of July 2002, Pastor Isler was officially nominated and ratified as the Senior Pastor at Montgomery Baptist Church.
